We have been working so hard to wrap up our learning for this quarter and I am so proud of the growth our class is making! We finished our first round of istation testing and the class did a great job. Students presented their heritage projects and I loved learning about all of your family history, traditions, and cultures. I am looking forward to another great week before a nice long break and track out.
Things to Know
Q2 Homework Grids are due by Friday Dec. 20.
Tuesday is our Learning Experience- Wear class t-shirt
Curriculum This Week
In EL we are working on a narrative writing piece from the point of view of a paleontologist. Students are learning how to include temporal words (suddenly, finally, next, etc.) They are also revising and editing to ensure they have included actions, details, correct irregular verbs, correct punctuation, and capitalization. This first writing piece is shared writing with a lot of teacher modeling and partner support. next week students will complete another writing piece independently.
In Letterland we are working on many new spelling patterns in unit 14. "o and er" "or" "er" and" o" most of these are known as r controlled vowels. In these words you hear the R sound, not the vowel. Ask you students about the Letterland stories and songs we have been using.
In math we are working on place value. Students are learning to compose and decompose numbers more efficiently. Next week we will learn how to use greater than and less than symbols to compare numbers.
In social studies learning about artifacts and how they tell us about the past. Vocabulary: past, present, future, timeline, artifacts, immigrant, culture
